PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Dear Students and Parents,

As always, Term 2 began quite quickly with plenty to do for both our students and families. Completing NAPLAN for our Year 3 and 5 students in an online format was a new experience for us as a school, and it was not without its hiccups, but we successfully completed the task. I would like to thank our teaching and learning coordinator Mrs Amninder Malhi and Year 5 teacher Mrs Victoria Kelly for their efforts in overcoming the challenges required to effectively complete the assessments online.

Another important initiative that we have begun this term is our morning breakfast program. After hearing that some of our students come to school hungry, we contacted Foodshare Shepparton who provide our school with weekly supplies of bread, fruit and cereal items. Staff and volunteer students from our SRC then make toast and cereal for the students each morning. The intention of this program is to allow all of our students to begin their day on a full stomach. We realise that some day’s students may be in a rush or may forget to eat at home, all students are welcome to come and get something to eat, but it should not be regarded as a substitute for having regular breakfast at home. I hope that this initiative makes the school day better for our students.

The Saturday Soccer competition began quite successfully as well. It is wonderful to see our students getting healthy while taking part in a competition representing their school. We are proud of their efforts win, lose or draw! I would like to thank all of our parents who take up a coaching role. It is wonderful to see our parents taking ownership of their school’s programs.

There is plenty to read and see in this edition of our newsletter, please enjoy!

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aksu
